A native of Polk County, Texas, Vic Wilson served his country in the Army Air Corp flying missions over North Africa and Italy. He began his overseas tour of duty in July, 1943 returning to the U.S. in August of 1944 after flying 50+ missions. Lt. Wilson piloted or co-piloted two planes, the Mississippi Gambler and the Idaho Lassie as part of the 12th Air Force, 321st Group, 445th Bomb Squadron, 57 Bomb Wing. Lt. Wilson received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Distinguished Flying Cross. This is his story.
